smile Gute Besserung, Balu!

CN berichtet:

Andy Cappelle (Chocolade Jacques) has yet to ride a race this year due to an inflammation in his jaw bone, and it looks as though he'll be out until at least May.

Sébastien Rosseler (Bodysol) is recovering well from a knee inflammation.

Cyclo-crosser Arne Daelmans (Vlaanderen-T-Interim) has broken his right upper arm after falling on some stairs.

Five riders were seriously injured at the Grand Prix de Saint-Brice-en-Cogles in France Monday when a woman driving her car on the parcours did a U-turn and struck the race head on. Guillaume Blot (VC Roubaix) was leading the front group with just 4km to the finish when the accident occurred. Also injured were Dominique Rault (Jean Floc'h), Nicolas Méret (US Sainte-Austreberthe), Franck Charrier (C.C. Nogent-sur-Oise) and Jérôme Bouchet (CR4C Roanne). All five were taken to the hospital.

Guillaume Blot was the most seriously injured, suffering severe facial trauma and deep cuts on his calf. Blot, who turns 19 at the end of this month, already has an impressive 107 victories to his name, including 18 wins as a junior in 2003.

The French racer Carlos Da Cruz (Fdjeux.com) fell Saturday in Milan-San Remo and was hospitalized in Pavie where the doctors diagnosed a probable break of a vertèbre.

Da Cruz fell alone around forty kilometers into the race.

The racer, who complained of a lot of pain in his back, was transported to the hospital where he will be kept under observation for several days, at least until Monday, according to his team.

"He may be out of competition for several weeks considering the seriousness of his injury," added Martial Gayant, who is the Fdjeux.com team director at Milan-San Remo.

Carlos Da Cruz (FDJeux.com) will return to France Monday after being hospitalised following a crash in the opening kilometres of Milan-San Remo Saturday. Da Cruz was diagnosed with a fracture of the D12 vertebrae at the hospital in Pavia, as well as a possible fractured wrist.
...

Denmark's Jakob Piil (Team CSC) will not be out of action too long following a knee injury sustained at Paris-Nice. Piil was forced to miss Milan-San Remo, but after five days of complete rest for inflammation of ligaments in his right knee, he should be ready to return.
...

Davide Rebellin (Gerolsteiner), another rider injured in a crash in Milan-San Remo, could see his bid for the Ardennes classics compromised if problems persist. Rebellin injured his knees and buttocks in the fall, aggravating a shoulder injury from 2003 at the same time. Rebellin will visit his doctor Monday for further examination.

Even though Antonio Cruz grabbed a nice ninth place, this result has no importance whatsoever with the spell of bad luck Viatcheslav Ekimov knew. Eki fell after the climb of the ‘Eikenberg’ and most likely broke his right wrist, which means he can probably forget about both the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. Benoit Joachim had to abandon the race as well. Benoit had two flats in the mountain zone and didn’t manage to get back to the main group.

“We will only get confirmation when Eki is examined in a local hospital in Kortrijk, but it’s as good as certain he has broken his right wrist”, director sportif Dirk Demol explains. “He fell when he was making his way back to the main group with a number of canteens for his team-mates, due to an unfortunate manoeuvre by a rider of another team. If what we fear is confirmed, we almost certainly loose one of the three guys who could excel in the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. This injury couldn’t come at a worse time, when we could start ambitiously with Max (van Heeswijk), George (Hincapie) and Eki. It means the task of the two remaining riders becomes more difficult.”
