The first on cyclingnews recorded results appears at the Grafensteiner Radsporttage, where Furdi finished at 19th place of the U15 race. Also other well-known Slovenian names like Spilak, Kocjan en Koren gained their first merits there. Later, in 2004, Furdi rode with the Team Team KK Krka - Adria Mobil and became Slovenian time trial champ and runner up in the road race (behind Kump) in the youth category.

In the following year he entered the junior category en was able to celebrate his first victories straightaway. He won the prolog and the second stage (solo victory with more than 3:30 minutes advantage on the bunch!) and the overall of the Slovenian race Po Stajerski.

In 2006 Kump continued his successes outside of the Slovenian borders. He won a stage of the Giro della Toscana and a stage at the Tour de Lorraine, both as a breakaway.

Thereto he added a podium spot in the stage races Po Stajerski and the one day races Trofeo Città di Ivrea and GP dell'Arno.

In 2007 he took part in his first U23 races and he needed a certain familiarization time.

His first pro contest was the Settimana Lombarda (2.1), that he finished 105th in after helping his teammates. In the end of April he participated in the Giro delle Regioni (2.2), but stood in the shadow of his teammates Svab and Bole. In June he went back to Slovenia. In the GP Kranj (1.1) he trailed far behind to finish 57th. In the Tour de Slovenie (2.1) he reached a Top 10 stage ranking (stage five, finishing is his home town Novo Mesto). In the overall he scored 76th place.

2008 as well can be booked as familiarization, although the standard was higher with his new team (Sava). Initially he participated with the national team in the Ronde van Vlaanderen Beloften (1.NC), which he finished as 24th. Back home he reached a reputable 19th place overall in the Tour de Slovenie (2.1) and a tenth place in the national time trial championships. The two most countable results Furdi scored in Italy, where he ended in each case third in the Trofeo Citta di San Vendemiano (1.2U) and Gara Milionaria Montappone (1.2)

Beyond the UCI categories he won the one day race with the beautiful name

VN HiFi-Color Studio (NE). Due to these results he was nominated for the U23 World Championships in Varese, where he finished 29th in the road race.

In 2009 he continued to step up and was rewarded with some good results, especially in the Nations Cup. He has an 18th place in the Grand Prix du Portugal (2.NC), fourth place in the Ronde van Vlaanderen Beloften (1.NC) and the 19th place in the Tour de l’Avenir (2.NC) to his name. In the last named race he took third place in the fifth stage and and eighth place in the seventh stage. After the World’s in Mendrisio (42nd in the road race) he was allowed to go to China to ride the Tour of Hainan (2.HC), there he finished 14th overall and two Top 10 stage results.

This year the breakthrough finally happened and he ultimately proved his pro suitability.

Already in March he ran in his first victory, during the first stage of the Istrian Sprint Trophy (2.2). He wore the leader’s jersey and finished the tour on the second place overall. In April he went to Italy, where he became the victor of the GP Palio del Recioto (1.2U). His strong April he completed with a tenth place in the Ronde van Vlaanderen Beloften (1.NC), a fifth place in the Côte Picarde (1.NC) and a fourth place in the GP della Liberazione (1.2U).

In his home country he performed strong as well. First the GP Kranj (1.1), in which he reached sixth place, was scheduled. In the Tour de Slovenie (2.1) he started off well, being seventh in the first stage and fourth in the second stage. In the deciding mountain stage Furdi became a fair 12th. This was enough the end the tour on eleventh place overall.

In the end of July he became third of the Slovenian championships. Earlier he won the national U23 time trial title. In September he took part in the Tour de l’Avenir (2.NC), where he finished on 19th place in the general classification. With this results he should be nominated for the World’s.

Furdi is hard to describe as a cyclist. “Allrounder” should fit best. He can climb hills and is a fair sprinter. Moderately diffcult races should belong to his prey schedule.
